Six Spanish wines to get to know

There is no need to know every grape or region before you begin. Start with what you enjoy—bubbles, bright whites, juicy reds, or something rich and layered—and follow your curiosity.

Pere Ventura Primer Reserva Brut Cava

Penedès, Catalonia · A sparkling start

Pere Ventura Primer Reserva Brut Cava wine bottle

Fine bubbles, bright citrus, orange blossom, and a little almond and toast make this Cava an inviting place to begin. Made from Xarel·lo, Parellada, and Macabeo, it brings freshness with enough texture to keep things interesting. If sparkling wine is usually reserved for a celebration, this is a good reason to bring it to the dinner table.

Try it with tapas, charcuterie, or crisp tempura.

Cune Monopole Blanco Seco Rioja

Rioja · Discover the white-wine side

Rioja has a white-wine story, too. Monopole is made from Viura, with white-flower aromas and lively apple and tropical-fruit notes. Its smooth, balanced palate makes it an easy introduction to a grape that may be new to you. Taste it alongside the Albariño below and notice how differently the two whites express fruit and texture.

Try it with grilled fish, shellfish, or seafood paella.

La Val Arantei Albariño

Rías Baixas, Galicia · Freshness with texture

This single-vineyard Albariño comes from Finca Arantei beside the Miño River. Citrus, floral, fresh-herb, and mineral notes meet vibrant acidity, while time on fine lees adds a creamy dimension. It is a lovely pick for a seafood supper after a day in Cocoa Beach: refreshing, but with more texture than you might expect.

Try it with seafood, fresh cheeses, or a light rice dish.

Sindicat La Figuera Vi Sec Garnatxa Fina

Montsant · A mountain-grown red

Old-vine Garnatxa grown high in the Montsant mountains brings a different mood to the lineup. Think juicy red berries, floral notes, herbs, and a savory mineral finish. Medium-bodied and supported by fine tannins, this is a red to consider when you want plenty of character without a heavy feel.

Try it with mushroom pizza, grilled vegetables, or roast chicken.

Bela Ribera del Duero

Villalba de Duero · Tempranillo with spice

Bela Ribera del Duero wine bottle

Bela offers a chance to get to know Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero. Fruit from high-altitude vineyards around Villalba de Duero gives this wine its starting point; currant, raspberry, and floral notes mingle with vanilla, clove, and sweet spice from French oak. Its fruit-driven finish makes it a compelling partner for a hearty meal.

Try it with grilled steak, braised beef, or aged cheese.

Cune Rioja Gran Reserva

Rioja Alta · A layered finish

Cune Rioja Gran Reserva wine bottle

To explore another expression of Tempranillo, turn to this Rioja Alta blend with Graciano and Mazuelo. Ripe fruit meets vanilla, toffee, and tobacco notes from extended oak aging, followed by a smooth, lingering finish. Compare it with Bela and ask yourself: do you prefer the fruit, the spice, or the way each wine feels on the palate?

Try it with roasted lamb, a hearty mushroom dish, or aged cheeses.

Bring a taste of Spain to your table

For a simple pairing night, choose a bottle and let dinner follow: Cava with small bites, one of the whites with seafood, or a red with mushrooms, roast chicken, or a slow-cooked dish. These are pairing ideas to try at home, so you can make the experience your own.

Want to compare styles? Monopole and Arantei make an interesting white-wine pairing, while Bela and Cune Gran Reserva offer two different perspectives on Tempranillo. Notice the aromas, texture, and finish. The most useful tasting note is the one that helps you choose what you enjoy.
